Cyber Threat Intelligence.
The CBEST framework was created, developed, and is run by the Bank of England. CBEST provides a structured and controlled approach for intelligence-led security testing within the financial sector.
Due to the criticality of the functions and systems within the scope of CBEST, and the level of stability and security required, only companies assessed and accredited by the Bank of England are permitted to provide CBEST services.
The CBEST Threat Assessment identifies two things:
These findings directly inform the simulated attack scenarios that we then generate based on a fusion of your digital footprint and the tactics, techniques and procedures of your adversaries. The inclusion of specific cyber threat intelligence greatly increases the relevancy and value of the CBEST process by aligning the simulated tests with the realities of your evolving threat landscape, thus uncovering true unique cyber risks relating to your organisation and your critical functions.
The CBEST framework delivers controlled, bespoke, intelligence-led cyber security assessments that replicate the behaviours of the threat actors that pose a genuine threat to the critical functions lying within a Financial Institution. By combining accurate intelligence, based on the most likely and dangerous threats to an organisation, with a simulated attack service, organisations can gain a clear understanding of their level of exposure, and ability to detect and respond, to real and significant cyber risks.
Security Alliance's CBEST Threat Assessment Report provides detailed profiles of relevant threat actors, along with complete cyber threat scenarios, which determine the scope and method of assessment for the next phase of the CBEST assessment – the simulated attack.
